25F and a wind with a real bite to it....just my kind of shooting day!...actually getting used to it. The real challenge with the wind other than aiming, is trying to get powder in the barrel.
Frontier percussion rifle .50 cal
patched .490 lead ball
50 grains Triple 7 powder
50 yds off hand

Not quite spring just yet...
Shoot safe, but shoot!

How do you like that Triple 7 powder, compared to back powder?

I quite like it. You are supposed to reduce your charge by 15% according to Mfg and it is quite punchy powder. It cleans up very easy with water. Much easier than BP or Pyrodex in my opinion. Quick burn too. I am told it won't work in flintlocks but I will try it anyway, I find it hard to believe it won't ignite with a proper pan flash. Hoping it provides an alternative in the flintlock until Goex powder factory gets back in business later this year. I have several lbs of Goex in the meantime, and lots of T7 as well.

I can’t imagine shooting BP in the wind or rain. Looks like you were right on target!

Not as cold but we have had constant windy days down here 15-30 MPH. But great shooting RR ! Which direction was the wind in regards to your firing position? Yeah I can imagine a big gust coming as the powder is starting to pour.

I’m shooting east and the wind was out of the southwest today.
