So I haven’t been to the range much since my wife passed away in April. Went out today with the 45/70. Tried three different rounds.
Outside
100 yard
90 degrees and muggy
Wind from port at 5-7
Georgia arms 300Gr hollow point
5 inch group (6 shots), slightly right and high
Grizzly 405gr cast flat nose
10 inch group (6 Shots), mostly center
Boy do these put BIG holes in things!
Grizzly 325gr +P JFN
4 inch group (9) rounds slightly right
If you want recoil, these are your rounds! Absolutely loved squeezing them off! $59 down range and I consider it money well spent.it was good to get back out there. For all you haters….Osprey 3x9x40 scope. Works just fine for me!

Re: Today’s 45 70
Glad you got out, and sorry about your loss. I agree, getting out to the range is good. When I go out, it is nice and peaceful. And, I get a chance to refine my shooting. I may shoot less than 20 rounds. But, I typically spent an 1 1\2 hours doing so. I just take my time and focus on the details. Most times, I am the only there. So, there are very few distractions.
