70F today, shot real BP for the first time. Very tired today though and it shows in the targets. Drove 5 hrs round trip yesterday to Calgary to get the powder. Driving wipes me out.

Goex 2fg 60 grains
.015 patch, .490 lead ball
Pedersoli Frontier .50 cal

Hope you get some rest. How do like the actual black powder compared to the substitutes? Any differences?

At the risk of alienating all the traditionalists....I actually prefer the Triple 7. I can shoot many times before fouling is an issue, but with the Goex I have to patch after every shot it seems. There is a lot of fouling.

My guess is if Triple 7 existed in 1800, those guys would have liked it too.

If you can find some mr flintlocks or Hoppes #9 BP cleaner and lube that would change. I dont swab out between shots using those as a patch lube.
