Frontier .50 cal, April 17th
70F today, shot real BP for the first time. Very tired today though and it shows in the targets. Drove 5 hrs round trip yesterday to Calgary to get the powder. Driving wipes me out.
Goex 2fg 60 grains
.015 patch, .490 lead ball
Pedersoli Frontier .50 cal
50 yds off hand, bit of a cross breeze...6" target
100 yds from 1 knee....not my finest hour....10" target
Short report today, thanks for droppin' in....shoot safe,
RR

if the point of aim was the heart of a big game animal, everyone of those rounds would have put it in the freezer .... well done, well done indeed

Hope you get some rest. How do like the actual black powder compared to the substitutes? Any differences?

At the risk of alienating all the traditionalists....I actually prefer the Triple 7. I can shoot many times before fouling is an issue, but with the Goex I have to patch after every shot it seems. There is a lot of fouling.
My guess is if Triple 7 existed in 1800, those guys would have liked it too.

Your not the finest hour sure looks fine to me. Offhand or a knee isn’t easy

Not bad at all for a tired shooter RR!

But you are using prelubed patches correct.RanchRoper wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 8:29 pmAt the risk of alienating all the traditionalists....I actually prefer the Triple 7. If you can find some mr flintlocks or Hoppes #9 BP cleaner and lube that would change. I dont swab out between shots using those as a patch lube.
