Just a what the heck fun comparison of two different worlds of .30 caliber shooting! https://youtu.be/gkbYGzs0dSg

Was a nice spring day to have some range fun so I brought these two along with the M1 Carbine being the light weight shooter and the Hatsan 135 the beast of an air rifle. A 10 year old would have fun shooting the mild mannered M1 but might cry trying to fully cock the heavy Hatsan!

On the steel drum top target the M1 was shooting a little low but a nice 2 shot group which I later got it in the red with an elevation adjustment.
The Hatsan 135 was hitting high but a similar shaped group a bit wider but no full penetration. Predator steel tipped pellet may have made a difference. Later I adjusted the rear sight to get it on target. Distance was 25-30 yds. so nothing fantastic. Was amazing to hear that Hatsan fired pellet hit the gong that loud from 40+yds!

I brought along just 10 of those 46 gr. 30 cal pellets for the Hatsan 135 as that is all I wanted to shoot this day and you know why!
If you need a quick follow up shot with the beast 135 just club it if you can!!

No the Hatsan 135 isn't for sale..yet but it is fun to drag it out for heavy air rifle plink or two.

Had a great day at the range and range dog Ace is learning my commands to get out the way when I'm getting ready to shoot....good little hunter dog he is!

Interesting. Seems like you were having issues with the 30 carbine. I had one once and wish I would have kept it. Curious Did you buy the Hatsun 30 cal airgun for the cool factor? Seems like its alot of work.

Well the trigger pull on the M1 is military issue as in a hard pull and the Hatsan much lighter with the trigger adjustments plus have been spending time with my lighter pull revolvers. Going from a light trigger to a harder one can make you wonder if the safety is on,I think I hit the safety on by accident on the M1. Just how it is sometimes.
Fulton Armory does sell a drop in match trigger unit for the Carbine which I had left off the build order. Might get one for it.

Now the Hatsan 135 cool factor.... What kid of the 60's wouldn't want a big bore springer air rifle!

Had an idea of putting together a Cocking Station for big springer air rifles on one of the post of my 10x10 shooting deck.

A large padded C clamp positioned low on the 4x4 post with a notched block up near end of rifle stock...all to secure rifle in place.
Then with rifle standing on butt it would be easy to break the barrel down. Rifle would just slip right in the support jig.

The Sniper 125 .25 shooter is a bit more easy to handle and I think about as much power with the faster 25 pellet.

Well Forty you got your workout for the day. Watching that video I can see why you only took 10 rounds for the Hatsan. Overall it's still seems like a fun air rifle to shoot.

That M1 carbine is a beauty. Fulton Armory builds a fine rifle and it shows in the quality of the wood in that stock and metal finish. My understanding is Fulton Armory builds to 100% Mil. Spec. so you pay more but get the best.

I had looked at the cost of the available good condition vintage M1 carbines and then looked at cost of a new Fulton built one that does use what was available of military spec NOS parts plus you get a really good barrel with it. Cost at the time was $1379 for the Fulton and now they are 1800 and higher. It is a nice shooter! Enjoyed my day at the range too.

Well worth the investment. They will only keep going up in price.

Wish I had my M1 Carbine again. Tell us more about the cocking station. Is it something you have seen before?

Well it's something I thought about and haven't seen anything like it. Will give it a try to see how it works.

Carried an M1 carbine for a while during my all expenses paid holiday in SE Asia. They are fine little rifles. Wish I had one now.
