Envy at the range

It's pretty much the norm that other shooters have guns that I admire and would like to own some day.
Today, though, was the worst. I contracted a very serious case of envy when a nice young fellow cracked open a rifle case and brought out his new-to-him M1 Garand that he had just received from the CMP. He won the Garand lottery and received a really nice one.
He is an army vet, and it was really nice to see that they still know how to teach soldiers how to shoot. He put a few shots on paper from a bench at 25 yards, and then went to the kneeling position and hit a 100 yard swinger several times. When the clip "pinged" out of the rifle after the last round was fired, I was a basket case. I need a Garand.
