range report SS 44mag.

Post by brianpa » Sat Nov 07, 2020 9:54 am

Finally was able to shoot my SS 44mag. after getting it back from recall. The trigger is amazing.
I was shooting 50yds rest aiming off my truck door. 200gr.XTP 25.5grs. of 2400 powder.
I pulled the last shot but the three center ones was about a 1 inch spread.

with that group at 50 yards, you most certainly have a rifle that can be worked with .... looking forward to your continued reporting

Nice job. I sure did like the trigger on my 357 alot better. The hammer pull back with an extender on it is real good also.
Don't let the old man in

Has anyone measured the pull weight of these repaired rifles? Can you post your results, compared to the old version?

Thanks,

Mine measures at 5lb now and was closer to 9lb before but I think it will lighten a bit after use maybe 4.5 lb.

The trigger on my BBS .44 carbine is about the best trigger on any lever gun I ever had. It must be the luck of the draw or the care that the smith takes when setting it up. Some of them are really good.
Mine has no creep and just a hair of take up, breaks clean as glass, maybe 4 pounds (if that). Any lighter and it would be too touchy for me.
I like shooting claybirds (against the back stop) at 50 yards (off a rest). I get mostly hits even with my floater filled blurry vision.
It's my favorite rifle ever since I got it. I'm sure I could drop a standing white tail at a hundred with a careful shot.
