Oh no! Having to set up their own target stands ? What an inconvenience! And the benches don't 'suit' them? How would they shoot if there were no benches? I guess setting up a folding table is out of the question as well.but some guys won't shoot there because the benches don't suit them or they have to set up there own target holders and so on.
Re: Range Report: Securite Gun Club
I ain't rich enough to patronize one of these high end ranges. I can barely afford to shoot tin cans in my back yard.
Bellum Omnium Contra Omnes is rapidly becoming a reality (11/2023). Para Bellum.

Ha...I have to do it all. Set up and maintain targets....cut the grass...clean the toilet...keep the driveway in order...and somewhere in thereMistered wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 9:01 amOh no! have a little fun shooting! But it's still refreshing just to sit back on a nice day and think this little spit of woods is mine!
Well worth the investment too.
We have two ranges within 2 miles of here...one indoor and the outdoor range located on the local Army base training grounds which is only open
on Sunday. I prefer outdoor shooting myself.

Re: Range Report: Securite Gun Club
I much prefer outdoor shooting, too, but in our northern snow country, much of my shooting is indoors with airguns in the winter. It's not the cold that bothers me so much, it's our always heavy snow cover in the winter. Our local club range is open in the winter, but they do not clear paths out to the targets. Wading though our usual several feet of crusty snow to put up targets is not only physically challenging, it's also dangerous if you don't have snowshoes. On our backyard air gun range, we do use the snow blower to get out to 30 yards without snowshoes.
We are above the snowline, meaning it stays cold enough in the winter so they snow doesn't melt. It just keeps accumulating.

Does that hot brass sink into the snow or stay on top?

Collecting brass would be a lost cause, up here, but our backyard range is an airgun range, only, so not an issue.

Re: Range Report: Securite Gun Club
Believe it or not I have taken some of the guys targets out to the 100 yd. back stop for them and some of those same guys are in their 40's and I am 71. Most that don't want to set their targets up or can't walk that far carrying any thing but their cigarette run out of breath and have to stop three times before they get there. I set their target up for them because I don't want to wait that long for them to do it. The shooters with any type of disability I gladly will take their targets out and go get them when they finish shooting.Mistered wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 9:01 amOh no!
