I used Red Dot for a lot of years mainly for 12 ga shotgun, but I also experimented with 45ACP loads. In the 45, Red Dot grouped the best when loaded at the top of the load range. The lighter loads produced a lot of fouling in the gun and even unburned powder showing up. Not sure what the load range is for the bullets you're using, but consider sticking to the loads near max.

5 to 6 gr. of Red Dot in .45 Colt and 44 Special has a good following for a mild target load with 200-250 gr. cast bullets.
