Two M24 clone loads.

Post by DsGrouse » Fri Mar 20, 2026 5:56 pm

Was finally able to put together a couple of loads for the m24 clone. It's a spiffy rifle.

First up Sierra 2140 165grn Game Kings. 42grns 8208XBR 2.75"
Not the best SD, but the group is more than sufficient for my needs. Shot with a clean, cold bore. I'm pretty sure the gun, and I settled down after the first five shots.

Swiss P 167 grn hp. This was a standout load. 8208XBR 2.75"

I wrapped up loading 308 for now. I took delivery of more of the Swiss P styx 168grn, Nosler 165 grn, and Sierra 167grn GK bullets.

I ended up seating them at 2.80ish. That is the mag limit for my AR-10. The AR-10 and the clone obviously have different chambers.

The AR-10 is at 2.835 for max length, while the slower twist clone maxes out at 2.865.

Next time, I plan to do some testing to see if longer cartridges will feed from the M24 clone. Possible somewhere around the 2.850 range. So far, group-wise, I'm not sure if that is necessary, but you know, boredom and all that.

The POF AR-10 is a 1:10 twist compared to the Clones 1:11.25. I can run heavier bullets in the AR-10.

Which brings me to powder. I chose 8208 xbr for my 6.5 grendel, and had been using varget for 308. A couple of posts online mentioned using 8208, with the Clone. So i gave it a go. It does like that powder.

The AR10 not so much, that seems to prefer varget. I'll play more with seating depth and see if i can find a suitible load that works for both

You're off to a great start with that new rifle.
I hope it only gets better now.
