Marlin 444p

Went to the range a few weeks ago, with a friend of mine. Tried his Marlin 444P believe its a "outfitter" model that has a ported barrel, loved it and little did I Know I was offered to buy it tonight so couldnt pass on it. its manufactured 1999 accordint to serial no.

Great rifle and cartridge.

If you're reloading, you need to stay with those 265 grainers if you're going to shoot Hornady bullets. Standard 44 mag 240 grain bullets are too weak for the 444. That was one of the first things folks learned when they started loading for the 444 back in the 60s when it first appeared. That's why the 265 grain appeared.

Can't help;p you on the combo sight/scope setup. Me, I'd go scope only with that 1.5-6 Leupold you have and call it good. That will more than handle anything you need to do with the 444.

Hope my Leupold works, afraid it will run out of elevation adjustment it only has 28moa on that model. Didnt work on my 44mag but guess 444 will work alot more velocity. If it works its a great combination.

Have had the same issue when trying to go with a dual sight/scope setup. Just a matter of keeping the scope low enough when mounted. Another reason for going scope, only, with low rings. Otherwise, might have to go with another model scope. That's one advantage of 30mm tube scopes. They usually have more elevation adjustment. Best of luck.

Thanks for info, remember my 44mag was a foot low on 50m with 1,75.6x32 and it was a high mount henry stock picatinny rail. I also have a aimpoint micro h2 it might be a option. Need a low picatinny rail and new rearsight elevator för stock foldable buckhorn.

Thanks for the explanation ruhler! I have seen a 3 barrel shotgun but not one with a centerfire caliber. That is a wild setup!
