1873 winchester .45 colt at the saloon.

Post by fortyshooter » Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:09 pm

Took my Uberti/Winchester rifle down to the range this afternoon to plink on the Bullseye Saloon targets.
From 20 yds. after knocking out the cowboys I went to work on the pair of Aces.

After the session I noticed the knock over bottles were taking some damage from those 255 gr. 45 slugs.
Not the steel itself but the welds were starting to break on a couple where the bottle is welded to the knock over mount.
On one the mount had twisted a bit from a side hit to the bottle but weld had held. Those slow 850 FPS .45 Colt loads pack a good punch!

Brought the two bottle racks home to beef the mounts up.

Note...towards the end of my shooting I started developing a health issue which I will talk about in the Lounge section.

Very impressed with both your targets and you're shooting.

RR, question. Your load of 7.0gr Universal and 250gr cast bullet, are you getting sooty cases when firing? I tried that load today and the cases were very sooty on one side. Curious. Thanks.

Seems less so with the 200 gr lead.
