Does anyone add a pinch of salt to the coffee grounds before brewing?

I saw adding salt to the grounds before percolating coffee in a short video. It's supposed to take bitterness out of coffee. I put a bit of salt in this mornings coffee before making it. I think it worked.
Anyone else tried it?

Before I installed a water softener fifteen years ago, I did. And yes, I thought it worked, too. I don't anymore, though. The water seems to be salted enough by the conditioner.

We have a water softener. Coffee and Tea still have a bitter taste. A very tiny tip of the spoon amount of "Sugar in the Raw" minimizes it.

A coworker showed me that trick a long long time ago, back when the Mr. Coffee was at every break room.
I think it works too.

I don’t need more salt even if it does work. Beside 12 ounces of milk in a latte makes it sweet.

If you think it will make it taste better, it will taste better.
Years ago, when I had just gotten off active duty, I took a job as a security guard. One of the other guards thought this trick worked. Unfortunately, he thought since a pinch may make it taste better, and generous shake, or two, or three would make it taste even better.
I don't have to tell you the rest. We did save on coffee when he was on duty.
If you want to add a little something to make your coffee taste better, try a light sprinkle of pumpkin spice. Full disclosure, this may only work if you put sweetener and cream in your coffee. And you like pumpkin spice.

So far just a small pinch seems to be working in the drip coffee maker. I like my coffee black so pumpkin spice might make it better for Mary. I'll tell her.

Back in my working years (swing shift), there were a couple of guys who would put a pinch of salt in the coffee basket when they made a pot but I could never really tell any difference with or without. I always drink coffee black - no cream, no sugar. Don't add any salt at home.
