I've shot BP a few times and always under the supervision of someone that knows what they are doing. I love the smell.

Rule 1 & 2........... always seat the bullet or ball AGAINST powder charge . This is the important thing you can do .... A air gap can blowup gun .

That's why they call me Three Fingers. Seriously I would need to learn a lot more before I went out by myself.

I am really fond of my old cap and ball percussion rifle. I refused an in line for a long time but finally gave in. I still take it out occasionally to just smell the sulpher when she goes boom.

I've done enough BP shooting to know I like it and to know that it is a whole different game than shooting smokeless. For me, though, the issue is finding the time. I can barely keep up with our other types of shooting, now. I do miss it, though, and it still tempts me.

I really like shooting my traditional .50 .... however I find cleaning them a pain.......but I'm going to be shooting mine some this weekend to get it fine tuned and ready for the following weekend when our muzzleloader season starts here in Missouri..(actually called alternative season now cause you can also use pistols and bows and other things that are not moden firearm rifles
