EOTECH sights

Anyone ever used any EOTECH holographic sights on their 45/70? I hoping to buy a Model H010 45/70 sometime this year, finances permitting, and thinking on maybe adding the Model 512 EOTECH on it.
Wondering if anyone here has any experience with this setup. Trying to get all this in my head before I take the plunge.
My old eyeballs and open sights don't get along so well anymore. I have a red dot on my pistol, and it works well for me.

I have several EOTECHs and love them. Easy and quick to get on target.

Thanks , Gene for the reply. From the videos & reviews on the 'net,I think they would work better, for me at least, than the conventional red dots. Also, had wondered how they would hold up to recoil from a 45/70.

No problem on durability. Eotechs are built to combat level specs. Most of their sales are to the military. The only thing I would question is bulk and weight, compared to more typical red dots, especially compared to the micro style red dots like the Burris. Lifetime quality stuff, though.

I don’t have any experience with a red dot on the 45/70 but would expect zero problems because it’s an EOTECH. Some of the cheaper ones NCG mentioned might not hold up.
I have several brands and the E is by far the highest quality.

Have never used the Burris on something like a 45-70, so can't say how it would hold up, either. Maybe one of our friends, here, has. On my hard kickers (and I do mean hard kickers, like a 45-70 pistol or worse), I've always used standard Ultradot 25s or 30s and have never had one fail. Less expensive than an Eotech, but still expensive as red dots go.

I have an Eotech with a magnifier on one of my AR's.
With my set up you can swing the magnifier out of the way if you want.
Works great for me...

Never used one.
And they look crazy on a lever gun to me.
But if they work, well then carry on.

LOL, well, you're right, it'll probably look like a side saddle on a hog, but it will be a big help to my tri-focals & old eyes. Quicker target acquisition, bottom line. Open sights just don't work so well for me anymore.

I understand the old eyes, I'm still able to do decent.
I've never been around anyone that was using them,
so I have no experience with one.
I know a lot of folks do and like them.
Got a buddy that has something like that on a pistol but I have never tried it.
And personally don't care for the way they look especially on a levergun.
But if it works, it works and I have no problem with that.
I didn't mean to sound so derogatory.
Carry on and will be looking to see your results.

I have had one for several years and had it mounted on my BFR 45-70 revolver for a while. It's very rugged being built for military use and is easy to get on target. I now have found a home for it on my HiPoint .45 Carbine!

LOL, no offense taken pard. I agree with where you're coming from. It'll be a few months before I can obtain the rifle. The tires knocked a big hole in my toy budget. I am anxious to get my paws on one tho.
( besides, I have thick skin, LOL )
