Sight Focus Plain

I've read many times about where you should focus on the front sight and not the target but I have a different approach. Say I'm shooting with any iron sight whether open or closed at 50 yards. If I focus at an imaginary line at around 30 yards I shoot my best. I'm not looking at the front sight or the target but taking everything in consideration which includes breathing and heartbeat.
Does anyone else do this?

Sir H sounds kind of like an instinctive approach. Sometimes when plinking, I don't really aim, but rather "picture" the bullet hitting the can, or whatever, and it actually works
I used to play pool the same way. Don't really aim, just imagine the ball going in the pocket.
Is that Zen?

Shooting shorts I can actually see the bullet for a split second.

It sounds like a form of point shooting with a touch of zen.
For some reason a picture of Bill Murray swinging a golf club in Caddy Shack just popped into my head.

That's what I need to do to shoot better. Take all my change out of my left pocket and put it in my right pocket.
