my search for a sight /scope for my .327 lever gun

Post by Roland the Headless » Thu May 21, 2020 2:55 pm

I decided to put a different sight or scope on my .327 so I invite you to come along on this adventure

to day I was looking a 44 mag lever gun I mounted the rifle to my shoulder, looked down the sights with the peep sights the front sight was clear

now I have to have one, but I was also thinking of a scope ...that might happen too

I like the way the peep looks and the more compactness
I probably could get tighter groups with a scope
so both???
I gunna go and do some reading on this forum
I will be back to type what figgered out

Roland, here’s a link to a post I made regarding scoping a 327. My old eyes just can’t do open sights anymore.

I have Williams ace in the hole sights on a few of my marlins. It is a rail that includes a fully adjustable peep, with quick release scope rings I can swap between peep and scope in seconds.
If only they made on for the Henry.

Ranger Point Precision may have a model for the Henry.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Roland, how's the scope search going? Got an idea or two if you're still looking.

still looking and considering both

I got a savage 170 in 30-30 picked up a (of all things )all pro k-mart brand scope for it
the scope is about the same vintage as the rifle and looks as good as it seems to work
also I picked aT\C branded scope for my 10\22 It looks like a tasco but who knows
I think it is a black powder scope so we will see how long it will last
I tore up a rim fire scope on a pellet rifle

leaning toward the skinner peep sight for the .327

rifletom I would love to hear your opinions on scopes, sights , or the weather ...whatever you feel like typing about bud :D

I swapped the scopes on my rifles the T/C scope did not fit right and wiggled a bit, but fits well on the 170

Roland, the three scopes I have on center fire rifles are: Henry .357 BB brass is a Weaver Classic V 1-3x20mm.
Henry .45 Colt has a Leupold VX 1 2-7x33mm shotgun scope. Win Mod94 30-30 has a Weaver K-4 on it. That Weaver 1-3 is absolutely perfect for a lever rifle. If you look for one, make sure it's of Japanese manuf. excellent glass. Heck, all three are darn good. Let us know what you find or need help with.
