Fiber Optic sights, HiViz or Truglow
Fiber Optic sights, HiViz or Truglow
Gotten too old and can't the buckhorn sights on my big boy 45 LC. Truglow and Hiviz both make replacement sights and I'm looking for opinions.
Re: Fiber Optic sights, HiViz or Truglow
I put a Marbles .450x.531 fiber optic on the front of my BBS in 45 colt, on the rear I put a Marbles long Bullseye, better sight picture than a buckhorn style and the front sight jumps out at you. After I installed them, lasered it with a boresighter, took the rifle to the range and @ 40yds I put 5 in a 3" circle a little less than a 2" spread off a bench. They both cost about $35 delivered from midway.
The tool for installation was a Wyoming sight drifter $35 better than a hammer and drift, It's small a little bigger than an ink pen.

There are a few others on here that have done it and it seems to work for them. I have one on a Henry Single Shot 357 and like it alot

Red dots work great on lever guns as far as function, anyway. Have used them quite a bit. Very fast and easy to use and an ideal sight for the typical lever gun shooting distances. It's a matter of personal taste whether you want to put one on a lever gun or not. Not traditional and I do get that. Each to their own.
Re: Fiber Optic sights, HiViz or Truglow
I ended up putting a TruGlo on my Marlin 1894C. It has an open hood on it. So, it is mainly noticable when aligning the sights. Thus far, I am pleased with it.

I bought the HiViz. Now time to install them, ( I hate hammering on a gun).
