Henry H001 Scope Ring Question

I ordered a couple of items from Henry for a H001 rifle, specifically, a hammer extension and a set of Talley scope rings. I finally got around to mounting the extension and the scope rings this afternoon. Mounting the hammer extension went slick as owl snot but I hit a problem with the Talley rings.

I ordered a set of Medium Talley rings but Henry shipped Low Talley rings and I didn't notice this until I tried to mount the scope. The low rings were far too low even thought the scope is only a Nikon 4X fixed power scope. The front of the scope (the objective?) would not clear the rear sight and the rear of the scope would not clear the hammer. I believe the front of the scope is 32mm but I am not sure since I bought it used and I do not have the original Nikon box.

I called Henry and explained that even though the invoice which accompanied the two items said "Talley 1" Medium Rimfire Rings" I received low rings. Henry sent me a shipping label so I can return the low rings but the Henry rep I spoke to could not tell me what rings I need.

I am not particularly fond of this style of Talley rings since you have to get the scope in the rings while you are trying to install the rings on the dovetail. It seems cumbersome and awkward to me, even though I like Talley products, just not this style product. Does anyone have a better idea and if so, what height rings do I need to clear the rear sight and hammer? I don't want to order the wrong product and get snake bit again.

In closing, I believe the front of the scope is 32mm but I am not sure of that. I don't have a caliper to measure it so if anyone has a Nikon Prostaff 4X fixed power scope, please advise if it is in fact 32mm.

I should have mentioned that I do not want to put a rail on the rifle, I just don't like that look on such a trim rifle.

The glass part of the objective is 32mm. The outside diameter of the objective bell is 39.3mm.
