My late friend had two of their rifles that were made when they were still in Farmington N.Y. One was a 45-120 and the other a 50-140. They were beautiful rifles and I sent them to the gun auction in Lakeland Fl. to help out his widow.

We don't own a Shiloh Sharps rifle but I offered to get one for my Montana husband when I got out of all of my handguns, handgun shooting, and a few of my rifles. He did not take me up on my offer in the past.

I spoke to a salesman in Big Timber, MT a couple of times in the past.

We would like to visit their company in Big Timber one of these days when the weather is better.

Thanks Cate The sharps were only a small part of his stash. She got about $20 K worth from his guns and she gave me one of his large Fort Knox safes. I would do it a hundred times again as he was the one that really got me into shooting and reloading etc. almost 50 years ago. I miss him everyday even though he lived several counties away.

I had 50-70 Sharps # 2112 made in Farmington N.Y . I shot it for almost 30 yrs and the workmanship and steel was 5X better then the original rifle . The new sharps today is the best and well worth the money they are asking for them .

I like their 1874 QUIGLEY model .... https://shilohrifle.com/rifles/1874-sha ... -clone-en/ but I don't like it enough to justify spending $3,533.00 .... I wonder what level 45-70 ammo these Shiloh Sharps are built for .... I can understand the purist being interested in black powder versions but for me having to use black powder would instantly eliminate it from consideration

I like their fringed buckskin rifle cover. My new 1860 Henry would look good in that at the range...good price too. I've seen them for 3 times that.

I only shot 15.0 of Unique in my 50-70 Sharps . My sharps NEVER seen a black powder charge in it in the time I owned it .

My buddy made this cover for my Flinter . FREE He paid $150 just for the skin and hand tied it like they did 200 yrs ago . He also made the possible bag and powder horn FREE ....... Thank you Ron........ R.I.P my friend

If you are going to shoot smokeless powder get the 45-70 or 50-70 caliber with a short barrel . The brass is super cheap and easy to find . Loaded with like 13 .0 of Unique there is ZERO kick and is super accurate boot and lots of fun . To get magnum performance with black powder you need the long 34" barrel and 45-110 or 45-120 cartridge and it will kick the hell out of you . The rifle below the barrel is 50 cailber flint barrel 36" long 1 turn in 72" to burn up 120 gr plus of 2FF . I got my deer at over 80 yds with a patched round ball .

congrats, remarkable shooting .... we have a TC 50 caliber Hawken .... we used patched round balls pushed by FFF, don't recall how much .... took deer with it at +/- 40 yards, longest range I remember punching paper was about 50 yard .... not saying I won't ever get back into black powder shooting but don't see it coming ....

The TC Hawken is a super gun . They use a 1 in turn in 48" and it will shoot both round ball or slug if you keep charge around 80 gr of powder . To get a round ball at 2000 fps you need 1 turn in 66" or 72" and 120 gr of 2F . Slug black powder guns 1 turn in 18" to 30" works best depending on the length and weight of bullet . This is a quick reference and not in stone . Look at the deep craters in this steel target . Pure lead and around 2000 FPS cause deep crater not bullet weight .
