A new forum section for the Homesteader
I've added a new forum section for the Homesteader. Let's hear about it there.

Re: A new forum section for the Homesteader
I will be looking forward to general reports from the first owner. There are a couple things I'm curious about. Who knows, maybe we'll see them on a store shelf soon.

No, I didn't know this was coming either. All I was told was there were exciting things coming soon. This was in November.

So... when are they "suppose" to be hitting the gun racks of the local stores?

Not enough is shown or revealed in the videos.

Stop the video and look at the whatever you call it with the forend. Checkering would have been a nicer touch for a 1K gun

Re: A new forum section for the Homesteader
"Homesteader" What an odd name for a 9mm. I wouldn't consider what it looks like and the caliber to be a "Homesteader"

From what I have read, Henry is plugging this as a home defense weapon.

So many 9mm's out there these days. It would be cool to pair this rifle with my EDC. Plenty of ammo available too!

I would much more like something to pair with the 1911.markiver54 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 5:03 pmHence, "Homesteader"navvet8189 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 4:59 pmFrom what I have read, Henry is plugging this as a home defense weapon.

Ya know in 45 acp, then I "might" get a bit more excited.
If I'm going to be chasing brass, I prefer the larger caliber.

Re: A new forum section for the Homesteader
To me, the most logical chambering would be 10mm since it would benefit for the barrel length.

Re: A new forum section for the Homesteader
Just never been much of a 9mm fan, yes I own three handguns chambered for it.
Ones on loan to the oldest daughter. The last one I bought was about a year ago.
Put about a half a dozen mag fulls of ammo through it, and it's been bury in one of the safes every since.
I'd much prefer the 357 to a 9, and for sa, I'll take the 45 Any day over a 9.
Besides man at the end of the day, I'm a cowboy at heart, so that's single action pistolas and leverguns.
But I do enjoy a good 1911, but hey in reality it's a single action pistol.
Just faster.

Misuse of the noun. Homesteader, a person who acquired and settled on land under the Homestead Act.markiver54 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 5:03 pmHence, "Homesteader"navvet8189 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 4:59 pmFrom what I have read, Henry is plugging this as a home defense weapon.

Re: A new forum section for the Homesteader
I guess they figure it would be a good gun FOR a Homesteader?...who knows..
It also means a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. Kinda fits. Modern homesteading refers to a self sufficient lifestyle-living autonomously, with minimum help from others.

Re: A new forum section for the Homesteader
Said this before 12ga with OObuck better home defense weapon than any 9mm. Henry is doing nothing more than taking advantage of the cheap centerfire ammo. Im sure they will sell a lot of them. Ruger did the same with the PC Carbine. I have one of those in a 40. Just happen to like the looks of it much better. YMMV
