Thanks, amazing photography. We only see one very seldomly around our neighborhood. The neighbor had a feeder out with the syrup but they really didn't come around too much. Amazing how fast their wings move.

The first time I saw Hummingbirds in the wild was when I was visiting Vancouver Island. I learned that many of them fly across the Gulf of Mexico in one go - a fantastic feat for such small birds.

Thanks, PT7. That was a joy to watch. The cypress trees and flower gardens in our backyard turned out to be an ideal hummingbird habitat. We generally have from four to six of the Ruby Throated birds living here during the season. Almost anytime we're outside we can enjoy them, sometimes at very close range, and they never cease to amaze and delight us.

I have had a feeder out for almost 30 years and they are like LAX with all the hummingbirds flying around. The cats love them.

I tried my hand at photographing hummingbirds years ago. Back in the film days. I rigged up a long remote switch for my tripod mounted camera and watched the feeder through binocs. The only practical way to keep the wings from blurring is to use flash. Never got any good photos. A few that were OK(ish). After a couple rolls, I lost interest.
