I'm a Happy Camper Today!
Results are in for the Member's Choice photo contest for the Carolina Nature Photographer's Association.
I was thrilled to take second and third place in the Small Stuff (macro) category with two of my photographs.
The talent in this group is amazing. I feel so proud to have won, not one, but two awards in this contest. Unfortunately, this means that from now on, I have to enter the Tier 1 division. This is the tier for professional photographers, and those who have won a 1st place or higher, or multiple wins.
Here are the two that won.
For those that are interested, here are the other winners this year. This is some phenomenal photography.

Congratulations, CH. It comes as no surprise, though. You are a talented artist and skilled craftsman. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

I just looked at the website. Thanks for the link. First Place in your Category is really good, but I prefer either your crisp Dragonfly photo (especially) or the blended image of the Frog.

The Best in Show picture was of a small frog, and was absolutely amazing. A lot of folks in the CNPA can afford trips to exotic locations, and have a wider variety of subjects. Still, one works with what one has, and great subjects do not make great photographs by themselves.

Well, from now on, I will have to compete in the top tier. I certainly hope I belong there.daytime dave wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 8:00 pmCongratulations. For my opinion, you belong in the top tier.

As to my philosophy, I have looked at pictures folks take in their local area, and thought how great it would be to have the opportunity to take pictures there. But then I think that others rpobably feel the same way about images taken in my area. I have come to believe that it's more about what you do with the subjects at hand.

I have admired your skills for years. It's nice to watch someone work who loves what they do and has a skill level that allows them to capture their vision. Congratulations on your wins, certainly deserved.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
