Flying Northern Flicker

I was wading through my photos for images of my wife, when I found this and thought I would share it here. The Northern Flicker is an exquisitely beautiful bird that we've seen feeding in our backyard for many years and I was lucky enough to photograph this one in flight. The original photo was much larger and the bird was lost in the larger image, so I cropped it to center the frame on him.

Almost hard to imagine, CT, how you managed that photo.....very nice.
I'm not a photographer, and am challenged with still, inanimate objects. Somehow they even seem to bounce around in my image viewer!

Love it, CT! The Northern Flicker has been one of my favorite birds since childhood. I am so pleased that we still get them this far north, but unlike all our other north woods woodpeckers, this one is migratory for us. All the others are year round birds.

They like to sit on top those metal furnace flues and call for a mate in their own entertaining way! City folks don't care for em much. Great pic!
