contact with bone can most certainly result in some degree of deflection .... I have no experience with Federal AE 158's but to have plenty with Nosler 158 gr JHP's .... from both rifles and revolvers, they do the job and do it well

I have already switched to the nosler. Will see.
I assumed the soft point would do the job. It worked well last year. The deflection really gives me pause.

here again, when a bullet hits a bone, some degree of deflection is normal .... many factors can figure into the degree .... I've seen some interesting, deadly wound tracks that made no sense to me whatsoever
