I didn't know this resource existed until a little while ago .... Buck stamps a symbol into its blade that serves to give you its year of manufacture .... "BUCK'S DATE CODE CHART" can be found at this link ====> https://www.buckknives.com/about-knives/how-old/

Thanks for the link. I have seen that on Bucks website and have used it to check my bucks out. It's always nice to know.

how could you tell .. :? .. I bought my first one as a HS graduation gift for myself .... I carried and used it to the point that sharpened the blade to a point that I had to send it back to Buck .... they replaced the blade and I set it aside as something I wanted to pass down the line .... all but the one on my belt as this is being typed was bought, used and designated for the same purpose

I broke the tip of mine but I reshaped it myself instead of sending it in to Buck. It's just a hair shorter but it actually helped me to reach up into the cavity of a deer with my finger on the top of the blade and know that my finger was safe from being cut.I do not like a long knife for that reason. Here is my pride and joy.

I got the one I have now from a factory rep that visited an air base I was on in 1982. The blade says .112.. so it's a 1980 or 1981.
I had a 4" folder before this one. My brother admired it and did all my knife sharpening so I gave it to him. I had carried it since 1971, so it was probably that.

First 110 is a '75 with the two dots. That belongs to my older son now. My other is of 2005. Such great knives!
I'll check my other Buck's when I get home in early afternoon.

Your sheath looks like new compared to mine, I wore a hole in the flap that I had to patch, also had to replace the belt loop. 1972-1986 markings but I know I bought in it the early '70s.

If any of you ever travel to North Idaho the Buck factory moved to Post Falls from California several years ago. They offer factory tours (pre-Covid anyway) and every year have a consumer direct Fathers Day sale. This is a short drive from where I live but so far I haven’t taken a tour. I will correcting that one of these days.
