Hornady electronic scale.

Post by cooperhawk » Mon Jan 16, 2023 3:04 pm

I have a scale I bought a few years back and I cannot find the book for it.
It's model 050106 and I can't get an accurate weight with it for powder. My problem is my eyes are
too old to read all the types of weights it will weigh. gn, oz, ect.
I want to measure grains and I have calibrated it and zeroed it, but when I use my balance beam scales
to check it, it's way off. I have a Hornady and RCBS balance beam. I'm kinda disappointed, I thought the
electronic was going to be the best.

Coop, is it similar to this one?
It's hard to tell which setting it is on.

If so put a Nickel on it and change the settings til it reads 76.8, or close then you should be on grains.
Most nickels weigh 5 grams which would be in the neighborhood of 76+ grains.

Can tell you from my experience that a cell phone laying on the bench or close to the scale will play havoc with it.

Many thanks guys. It now seems I have a hundred rounds of 357 that have too little powder.
My bullet puller is broken so I ordered a new one. Should be here this week.
My electronic scale is now working correctly. I replaced the batteries and calibrated it.
funny thing is neither my RCBS or Hornady bar scale are working correctly now.
