given, Yeti produces high quality products .... given, Yeti backs their products after the sale .... given, Yeti products come at premium prices .... our most expensive Yeti is a 160 qt cooler that we transport on a carrier at the rear of our camper .... we've used it for over 5 years and it still performs as it did when new .... our main use is to yearly transport thousands of dollars worth of unfrozen steaks from South Dakota to North Carolina and points in between during trips which have lasted for over a month .... prior to it, we went through a series of cheaper coolers, none of which held up for very long before they would allow rain water to leak in and demanded daily ice infusions in hot weather .... hauling ours on the back of our camper for thousands of miles subjects it to a marked accumulation of road grit and grime .... it still cleans up easily .... this info is given to make it clear that I have been a long time supporter of Yeti and their products .... a few days ago Yeti publicly notified the NRA that they no longer wish to maintain the same business relationship with them .... since then, a major controversy has developed with calls for boycotting Yeti products .... accusations are flying in both directions .... I have no clue who is at fault or what the true details are .... I emailed Yeti about it and their canned response left much to be desired .... consequently, I have learned enough to reach a decision to not deal with Yeti again until it gets sorted out ....

Yeti really put their "Bigfoot" in it this time.
I am a committee member for the local chapter of my states FNRA banquet.
We were told two weeks ago that the NRA had been officially notified that the Yeti company would no longer be continuing their promotional products relationship with the NRA Foundation.
At that time, there was no mention of a "change in programs".
There was likewise no mention of any other organization/company that were also being dropped from similar branded promotional programs.
It was a full two weeks before the Yeti company decided to issue a "rebuttal" to the NRA's version of the events.
I emailed the Yeti corporate offices asking for clarification regarding this matter more than two weeks ago. I have yet to receive a reply.
Forgive me if I smell panic at Yeti.

Since hunters bagging large game are big purchasers of these high end coolers... yeah, they may have stepped in it big time.

NRA's response to Yeti :
If it wasn’t bad enough that YETI dropped The NRA Foundation as a client, now they’re calling us liars because we informed our members and friends of their actions.
The NRA Foundation has over 1,100 “Friends of NRA Committees” around the country. These committees host banquets and auctions that are attended by hundreds of thousands of guests each year. These events raise funds to support charitable causes and programs. The NRA Foundation supports the needs of youth programs for education, safety and training, as well as law enforcement needs, shooting ranges and conservation programs.
For many years we have purchased coolers from YETI for our auctions. We have auctioned off many thousands of YETI coolers each year. YETI recently dropped The NRA Foundation as a client. Not only would they not take our orders for more coolers, they forced us to cancel orders already in the system that they said they would not fill.
Three days after we notified you of YETI’s decision to drop The NRA Foundation, YETI issued their prepared statement in which they admit they dropped us but claim they simply eliminated the discount program and dropped other (unnamed) organizations as well. That’s news to us.
Perhaps the people writing YETI’s damage control statements are not talking to the people who enforced YETI’s decisions and refused our orders. We had even offered the YETI Roadie in one of our sponsorship levels for 2018 – which we’ve had to cancel.
We told you the truth.
YETI’s attempts at damage control is to say our statement is not accurate. Shame on you again YETI. You know you made a mistake. A big one. Now you must live with your mistake.

This is beginning to sound political. This thread is making me uncomfortable. Just my humble opinion.

I agree, I was wondering where it would go, but I'm so far not concerned. I agree with our Marshal, so far it's ok.
Since I'm an endowment life member of the NRA, I suppose I will not be an owner of any Yeti products, as good as they are.
Keep up the good civil discussions gentlemen.

I cannot get over the fact that Yeti let this brew for TWO WEEKS before they decided to issue a "clarifying statement".
They made an incredibly stupid P.R. move and it backfired. Now they're trying absolve themselves of the consequences resulting directly from their own actions.

My point is when you insert an " official " NRA statement in our discussion, it automatically becomes political. And if I may on the ideas of boycotts. They rarely work, if ever. My daughter has a B.S. in Marketing and twenty years in the industry. She says company's don't just wake up one morning and say " oh , I am going to cut ties with so and so . They do research , they study their customers, they hire outside companies, like my daughters, and then decide on a course of action. Most companies know they will take a hit in the short time but they also know that they will pick up new customers agreeing with their decisions. Ying and Yang. I personally can attest that boycotts don't work as I have boycotted 4 major privately owned companies for years do to their stance on social issues. As far as I know, they don't miss my money at all. It makes one feel good but don't think it will change anything.

we may have a matter of semantics .... for our purpose, political commentary consist of references to political parties, candidates or directly related positions taken .... the statements from the NRA and Yeti are from a public organization and public business ... those statements do not qualify as being political .... should we have post which drag then into a political context, that would cross our line and would be dealt with .... Dave's statement, "Keep up the good civil discussions gentlemen." pretty much covers it

For the record, I agree with you. The NRA today is so different than it was for so many years, now gone by. In 2018, it is primarily political and it has been for several years.
I'm not a member, I never have been, never will be, and have never paid for a membership. But, as a gun owner, each year they send me a membership card with a membership number and a bill. I discard both. I wonder if they count me as a member while lobbying for political positions that I will never support.

I can understand. I first got contacted by NRA when I completed my hunting course in 2016. I said, "Why not." When I joined a shooting club last year, part of the agreement is to be a NRA member because of insurance. If I decided to leave the club, I have debated about continuing being a member of NRA. I think it is good to be concerned about our rights. But as you pointed out, should it be a political thing? What do I call political? I think the situation that happened with S&W was political. If a vendor decides to make a firearm safer from their viewpoint, how does that infringe on our rights? We can decide to buy it or not, unless there is more to the story than I am aware of.

I disagree. I think the NRA has always been an organization that has always promoted the sport of shooting, responsible gun ownership/safety, and maintaining our 2nd amendment rights. I think people think they are more political today than in the past because their political opponents try to make the NRA the villian blocking their quest for gun control.
