My five year old window a/c just bit the dust and I ordered a slightly bigger LG brand. It’s an inverter type and should last longer. It also has a ceen of 15 which is higher than the GE of 11.4.

I’ll have to suffer till next Wednesday for the delivery.

Window A/Cs don't last that long these days. 4 - 6 years seems to be the norm, depending on how much they are used. I recently purchased a GE brand inverter unit. At first, it didn't seem to be up to the task, but after a few days it seemed to "break in" and now seems to be doing well. I was surprised at how small and light the unit was compared to the same BTU conventional unit it replaced. I like the fact there there isn't that surge when the compressor kicks in.

I remember the days on the farm when I was a kid with no electricity and no AC.
When it got as hot as this we would sleep outside on the lawn but had to have light
blankets to keep the mosquitoes off us. I feel for you.

I have one of those portable floor units in my shop. It's vented through the wall and does a
decent job.

My problem right now is our three story house is hard to stabilize. I have all the vents closed
down here in my man cave and all of them open upstairs in the bedroom but the bedroom is
just nice sleeping temp and my man cave is freezing. I'm sitting here in a sweat suit.

I know, just tough it out sonny.

Well I do have some good news. Remember the Class A diesel pusher I lived in after I left Washington? Well I still have and it has a/c. I’m now sitting on the sofa with Little Girl on my lap watching Law & Order reruns in a very comfortable 68F.

I'll take that bet. CT has been in heatwave temps and dense smoke for several days. My AC is set to 78.

Electricity distribution is a lot like the Colorado River. It seems like there's an unending supply. So much water. But lots of other folks need it before it fades to a trickle.

78 is comfortable enough for me and my cat and the millions of people that live in NYC. Glad you and the little girl are cool.

My current a/c isnt very efficient. The new one is not only more efficient but also allows me to dehumidify separate from cooling. Once I cooled down I gradually turned the temperature up. It’s currently set to 72F and the humidity is around 45%.

The smoke is back and I’m wearing an N95 mask whenever I go outside. I’ve used it enough the mask is turning dark.

I’ve found 72F is the best temperature for living. The motor home has two separate units and they dont have a problem keeping the coach cool. The house window A/C was struggling. Next year when I do my addition it will have a high efficiency built-in wall unit. I’ve found several with a ceen above 18. My old unit was a poor 11.4. The wall unit will also be a heat pump similar to what you see at motels.

The tv in the motor home was pre-wifi and i only had antenna . Last night and this morning I installed a newer tv from the spare bedroom. It was labor intensive because the cutout was specific for one tv. The new tv was the same size screen but the tv chassis was different. At any rate the wifi from the house is good enough to broadcast the 50 yards or so to the tv.

When we bought the farm in Oklahoma, and I set up my new shop we put in a minisplit. Keeps the temp at 72 in the summer, 68 in the winter. Tinas shop used a window ac, and a small space heater. Last year we put in a small mini split for her shop as well. Dramatically reduced the energy costs of maintaining the temps and humidity in her shop. Much quieter too.

That’s what I need when I build the new addition. What model did you get?

The one in my shop in VA was a Daikan, the one in my shop here in Oklahoma is a Gree, and Miss Tina's shop is covered by an Armstrong. All were brands and sizes chosen by the HVAC contractor that installed them. All have done an excellent job in managing the environment.

I’m really glad. A month ago I had a house guest and he stayed in it. And now I’m living in comfort till the house window a/c gets here. Its hooked up to a 50 amp shore power, has a dedicated 500 gallon propane tank, water and in its own rvPort.

I run the motor a few times a year and spent two hours in the spring and fall winterizing it.

Our Journey is inside our pole barn hooked up to 50 amp all the time. Since that is a separate meter from the house
I have to pay a basic rate no matter how little I use so I keep the AC on. It keeps the moisture down inside the coach.
In cooler weather I have one electric radiant heater that I keep on as well.

I have had on our last coach when the moisture got too high too long and the hard wood swelled up on the cabinet doors.
I found using the AC and a little heat I can prevent that.

I winterize mine and don’t heat it. In the winter the humidity is low and I dont have to worry about it. Summers are high humidity and could be a problem. I think having it under cover help. It never gets wet when it rains yet is open on the side.

My home a/c arrived and I finished hanging it up a few minutes ago. The house is still hot so I’m spending another night in the motor home.

So how is the new unit working? Hopefully it's performing well.
