I have been neglecting my car and hadn’t washed it since last July. Shame on me…

No shame. I don't wash between October and end of May. After a wash, one trip down the long driveway and back and it's dirty.

Tina took the Titan to get it washed a couple days ago, it was 80 degrees. The Titan sits out in a carport rather than in a garage. The temps dropped back cold again the next day, but the truck is clean. Temps are supposed to climb back in the 80s and 90s the next few days... then who knows. :)

It's not neglect. You simply allowed it to accumulate a protective layer of dirt.

In my area right now, it's a complete waste of time to wash your car. By the time you have taken a shower and changed clothes from washing it, it will have a thick layer of yellow pollen.

High temps and pollen? It was below freezing all day yesterday, got another inch of snow, and the maple sap is frozen in the collection containers. Should get up to the mid 30s today though, but weather that will make a car wash anything but an exercise in futility is still weeks away.
