Its not that bad only the bigger salties will eat you

Last time we visited son in North Queensland he took us out for a day snorkeling, while all the tourist groups had head to toe stinger suits on board shorts for him and bikini for his girlfriend. Not much different to the way you lot look at bears wolves and big cats, they might eat you but chances are fairly low so just get on with life. When you live with them everyday and are still alive the actual threat they pose almost becomes irrelevant.

When I grew up in South Florida, we saw gators most mornings while waiting for the school bus. In fact we saw one huge gator on the road every morning. It was a single lane gravel road atop a levy dividing two portions of a lake chain. There was a long line of mobile homes along the gravel road and the bus stop was there for the kids of the people living in mobile homes.

We ignored HER while she sunned herself on the gravel road, and we stood at the bus stop. When the bus came down the road, the driver would blow the horn, and the big gator would SIGH, heave herself up and slip into the water of the lake and disappear. Bus would come on up the road and pick up the half dozen kids. Never had a bit of trouble. Back then, WE knew not to poke the gator or throw rocks. So we never GAVE her a reason to pay attention to us.
