Prescription Glasses
I had cataract surgery two years ago and had my vision corrected for distance. It was close but I still use glasses. Mainly because I’ve worn glasses since I was ten and feel naked without them. I’ve had my eye prescription done dozens of times the old fashion way -which looks better? This last time they did a laser measurement and hit it spot on. Without glasses I’m almost 20/20 and with I’m even better than 20/20.

Re: Prescription Glasses
I had my eyes done about 10 years ago and had the distant vision lens put in figuring I would just use readers. Well, that didn't work out too well and I needed glasses for everything, until, I started taking CBDs for my arthritis. All of a sudden I seldom need glasses anymore. I can't tell you why that is, but I still wear them driving because my License says I have to.
Sometimes I get half way to town and realize I forgot my glasses. Strange.

Re: Prescription Glasses
I’ve gone full circle with vision. In the first grade it was discovered I couldn’t see and I got my first pair of glasses. I could only wear them to school and had to put them in a safe place when i got home. They were probably expensive for my folks and they knew I would most likely destroy them out playing.
Wore glasses all my life until my mid 20’s when I started wearing contacts. That was a huge improvement other than the upkeep and cost. Then around 2000 I had lasik surgery and that was wonderful. No glasses or contacts. Life was good until about two years ago, my eyes are failing again and now I’m wearing glasses most of the time.

I took the vision test without my glasses last time I renewed my driver's license and my distance vision has improved enough that they removed the glasses required from my license, although I still wear them when driving I don't always wear them watching TV.
Close up vision is a different story. If I ever do get cataract surgery and end up with perfect distance vision I think I'd probably still wear glasses all the time because I can't imagine having to keep track of reading glasses.

You look into a machine and it analyzes your eyes. It took ten seconds.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 5:12 pmWhat is a laser measurement method?Sir Henry wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 9:38 amI had cataract surgery two years ago and had my vision corrected for distance. Re: Prescription Glasses
I have better than 20/20 at normal range and distance since my new eye lenses were installed. I use reading glasses in close. Sometimes I can thread a needle without the readers, sometimes I can't.
