Took a Drive

Today we took a drive with our friends over to Eagles Nest and Angel Fire NM. Its beautiful country over the top of Bobcat pass and down into Eagles Nest. There is a Vietnam Memorial in Angel fire that was well worth the stop. Its a Museum of the Vietnam War started by Victor Westphall. He originally bought the land to build a resort. But when his son was killed in Vietnam that changed everything. I put a link here to the rest of the story https://www.nmdvs.org/nm-memorials/ I took some picture which dont really do anything much justice but I did enjoy the time we spent there. You could easily spend a 1/2 day there looking at the museum. One thing I thought was cool is you could buy a brick and have it installed along the sidewalks of your time served and what service you were in.

The last photo is the resting place for all the Vets from NM. Ive always thought not much respect was given to our Vietnam vets. There is also a wall there with all the names on it. I thought this was one of the nicest tributes to the Vietnam Vets that I have seen.

Thanks for that Al. I may just have to visit there.
I have a lot of time working on and flying in Hueys.

Coop I know you would enjoy it. Its a long ways to go for you but the area is worth a visit. There is a nice RV park in Angel Fire although I think the one I am in, in Red River is nicer. I did drive through the one in Angel Fire. If anyone goes through that area I would encourage them to take time to visit it.

Very Nice. I like it when there is a nice respectful place to go and pay tribute to those who have gone before us.
Beautiful.

Looks very nice and well planned. Had not heard of it before now. A great memory of our Viet Nam vets that gave it all!

Pretty neat place Al. I'm sure I'll never get there, so thanks for sharing it with us.
