All the talk on here about rain keeping folks from getting projects/shooting done due to rain. We haven’t had any measurable rain for several weeks and burn ban are going into place already. It’s just mid June for crying out loud. Used to be June was a cool wet month followed by hot and dry July, August and September with the burn bans going into place around August.

Please send rain, I’ll take it so you guys can go shooting.

Has been an unreasonably wet Spring here this year.
Then, it will likely be an unreasonably hot and humid summer, so I have refrained from complaining to much.

We have had a lot of rain after a very dry Spring. In fact we finally felt safe enough to burn
our brush pile that has accumulated over a couple of years. Here is my own firebug, Miss
Carol in her dungies with the fire half burned. She just loves a good fire and will drop what
she's doing and get her fire starters and come on the run.

Our wet used to end mid-June. After that dry and hot until Labor Day weekend, when 90% of the time we get our first fallish rain. Then cool and dry into October. After that it rains and doesn't stop until Spring sometime. This Spring has been mostly dry with some rain. Burn ban went into effect a week early. Normal cut-off is June 15.

Nothin but hot here. Triple digits coming up later this week they say. Got work to do on the pickup later this week so the shooting might not happen.

Here it is either raining or too hot, lol.

I'm a cool weather fan.

Here in the eastern side of central NY, we've had rain and more rain. They reported that May was the wettest since the 1800s, and it's rained a lot already in June. I have a half acre pond and the water from the upper part of the property all runs down across the grass I keep cut, and into the pond. My mowing pattern is leaving muddy brown stripes from the tires on the lawn from how wet the ground is, and I'm only mowing after a day or two of sunshine, which is about as dry as it has been getting. I actually got the mower stuck in the mud on the edge of the pond last week. It sunk into the mud until the blades hitting the mud made the engine stall, and then, even after restarting and raising the deck, I couldn't drive it out of that spot. Had to pull it out with another vehicle. I'm looking forward to a couple weeks of drought where the grass gets stunted and doesn't need to be cut every few days.

Is anyone else noticing that lately it seems like our typical seasons are running about a month later than usual? The "April Showers" are now in May and June. The last couple years have had temps in September and October being almost summer like in warmth, and the majority of our snow seems to fall in February and March. I wonder if it's result of some kind of astronomical alignment change or something like that.

BREAKING NEWS.

There is a suggestion of rain in the area this weekend. Possibly not much right here at my place but in the surrounding area. We’ll take anything we can get!

Will be not so great to see my shooting swamp again and wheat field will need serious chopping! So far June sucks with nothing really drying out much right now. Humidity high and heat will be in 90's starting today. Showers/rain up till Friday they say.

We've had more rainy days than sunny days in spring so far. Like rickhem said, the lawn needs two days to dry out before you can mow it and it's tall and thick.
Hopefully, the garden benefits if the plants can tread water long enough.

The local news reported this morning that my area could see up to a .25 inch of rain by Sunday. That’s a bit of an improvement from yesterday’s futurecast. Not much but we will appreciate anything.

Kinda like that here except our "April Showers" ended this year the end of Feb, early March.

So that is where our March to Mid-June rains wandered off to.

Climate change, anyone?

No rain here for quite sometime. Chance of showers this coming weekend which won't make the cherry growers happy, too much rain when the cherries are ripe can ruin a harvest, the ripe cherries absorb the water and split. So far it's been a good year for cherries, we had a 3 day heat wave last week but high temps have mostly been in the 80's. A few years ago when we had a early and long 100+ degree heat wave and they would have to stop picking by 10am. The foreman at a nearby orchard told me they left at least 20,000 pounds of cherries that were ruined by the extended high temps hanging on the trees.
