This is mostly for y'all wood workers, but it's an interesting 30 min video for everyone of how some of the best handplanes in the world are made in the USA.

I have one of their block planes. They are extremely well made, and extremely expensive.

Back in the day I machined tons of castings for the Di-Acro company. Our side of the plant got the raw casting in to be finished. I never worked in the casting side. Our plant used the same machine tools pictured in the video. 1940’s technology.

Sometimes the older tech is the best way.
