What's your level of Fudd-ism?

I know there are some others around here with Fudd-like tendencies. Maybe I'm the worst, maybe not. I'll describe some of my symptoms:

–– I love revolvers (mostly SA, but I shoot plenty of DA, too), lever-action rifles and break-action and pump shotguns. I'm fine with bolt-action rifles as long as they're made from wood and steel.

–– I'm not a fan of polymer-framed firearms. I own only one (a S&W M&P 9) and I never shoot it; it stays in the truck as an emergency back-up gun.

–– I dislike semi-auto anything (almost –– I do like my 10/.22s). I've never owned an AR and I have zero desire to. I don't care for Picatinny rails, lasers or any other "tactical" stuff. I'm not big on modifications; my oldest 10/.22 still looks exactly like it did when I got it for my 16th birthday in 1980.

-- I'm okay with scopes on high-power hunting rifles, but I don't want them on anything else and damn sure not on any of my lever guns.

These biases cause a lot of people to scoff at me, but I just don't care. I don't begrudge anybody else using and enjoying anything that's legal. I'm just not going to do it myself and I'm definitely not spending my money on that stuff.

I'm pretty close in my tastes, but the focus of almost all of my shooting is target work and accuracy, so I tend to use a lot of scopes on my guns. It's sometimes a downright necessity, too, given how much of my shooting is under lighting conditions that make using iron sights almost useless at times.

I do enjoy semi-autos, but it's all the traditional stuff. I've yet to own a polymer anything.

I collect vintage revolvers and, of course, shoot them, too. Won't ever be without some nice lever guns or bolt guns, either.

My most used type of action, though, are single shots. Between my TC Contenders and Encores, my Winchester and Ruger falling blocks and my air guns, I spend more time shooting single shots than anything else. I'd be fine if all I had to shoot were single shots of one kind or another.

–– I love revolvers (mostly SA, I have a couple SA/DA but rarely shoot them) and several lever-action rifles. I have a couple pump shotguns, one I've never fired. I don't own a break action or bolt rifle.

–– I'm not a fan of polymer-framed firearms. I own only one. It's small and my every day carry. The others are steel.

–– Semi-autos are not my favorite, but I do own a few. I do own an AR with a Red Dot, mostly out of spite because of anti-2A agendas. No lasers or any other "tactical" stuff.

-- I do have scopes on a couple of my levers, not because I like them there, but because of poor eyesight.

Likewise, I don't begrudge anybody else using and enjoying their own things.

I'd say we're pretty close in our likes as my all time favorite is the lever action rifle, followed closely by the single action revolvers, and those two are the majority of the collection. I own more pump shotguns, but they are not necessarily my favorite. Not sure how it happened , but it is what it is.
Of the bolt actions that I own more are 22's than cf. Oh, there is a Savage pump in 35 Rem. around here somewhere, it's a fine shooter, but after I picked up one in a levergun, it hasn't seen much outdoor time since.

As far as the semi-auto goes, I have a pair of AR's, ( mostly just because, if ya know what I mean) one is scoped and setup for hunting, which the 9 yo grandson used this past year to take 3 deer with. The only thing I have in a cf that the stock was short enough for. The other just has a peep, and I've had it for like 4+ years and still haven't put 50 rds. through it. A pair of Rem. 1100's 20 & 12 ga. and a pair of Marlin 22's, a model 60 and a 89c, which was the predecessor to the 60, but has a mag. vs the tube feed. A couple 9mm like you that rarely see daylight and now only one 1911 45.

As to the leverguns, they're split nearly down the middle with a little less than half that are scoped.
Old eyes and hunting, they just have become necessary. I didn't take a shot at a nice buck a couple years ago because it was getting late one evening and I just wasn't sure enough with the peep site. Never saw that one again, but I'd rather pass than make an unethical shot.

I like fine walnut and blued steel rather than plastic. (I'm old fashioned,) but I do have one bolt action stocked with, not plastic, but some other substance that is more stable, (or so my friend and master gun smith tells me), in 308 and is a fine deer rifle.
I have a collection of lever rifles. That's the kind of guy I am. I also like revolvers. I have at least a couple.
My favorite deer rifle though is a Ruger No1 Light Sporter Single Shot Falling Block in 7mm Mauser. I do not like the Magnum as it kicks too darn much, so I got the Mauser and I can load it up to where I am comfortable with it. I have taken both turkey and deer with it. It's my favorite.
From my older days when I lived in Northern Virginia I have a Ruger M77 Round Top with a Varmint barrel in 220 Swift. On top is a Luepold 12 power scope. I used it for years in the Shenandoah Valley helping Dairy Farmers and Orchard folks rid their land of woodchucks. Great fun.
I should sell it but it's like one of my children. They all are. Each one has a story.

I'm almost 85 now and I watch deer and turkeys now but rarely hunt or even shoot anymore.

I did shoot league Skeet for many years and won a few trophies. I still have two old Ruger O/Us. One in 12 and one in 20 gauge.
I've shot very little trap but seem to do all right with it. At least I can confound the younger folks who can't keep up.

I'm nearly that bad, too. I only own a few guns; two Henry pistol-caliber lever-action rifles with Skinner peep sights, a Sears Savage Ranger Bolt Action Single Shot 22LR rifle that my father-in-law bought when he was a teenager, four revolvers (2 SA)...

... and one semi-auto.

I own and keep in a safe the only semi-auto I will ever own. It's a Colt 1908 Pocket Pistol in .25acp built in 1916. It was purchased new by my late wife's grandfather and given to me by my late father-in-law. I even have the holster that he bought with it. They're both in great condition, and I only keep them for the provenance.

I love revolvers, both Single Action and Double Action and shoot both. I shot revolvers a LOT in PPC, double action only from three to fifty yards. I LOVE revolvers.

Me too, I like Henry's and the Ruger Ranch Rifles. I also like double barrel shotguns, and a few others. I just like guns.

I was a Glock Armorer and Certified Firearms Instructor for the Department, and when we transitioned from Revolvers, we went to Glocks for Duty. As an instructor, I bought a number of additional Glocks (In various frame sizes) to use for teaching on my home range, both for Officers and for private classes. I like them for what they are... solid duty guns. I shot in the Glock Matches to improve my skills and survivability on duty and off.

As a Marine, Former Staff NCO, I carried an M16 and a 45acp. I liked both and have ARs and 1911s because of that. I shot the M16, M14 and M1 Garand in High Power matches, as well as the 45acp in Pistol Matches. I don't own the M1 and M14 (or the M1A in the civilian version) but they are on my bucket list.

With a career in Military and LE, and a long history of teaching... competing... I love shooting. I have shot a LOT of guns. There are a few I don't care for, but mostly I'm open minded. I tell people to shoot what they like, set them up the way they like. I set them up for the purpose I need. I don't use a lot of lasers, red dots, scopes and the like, though I have a couple scopes on the varmint guns and a laser on a night gun for the coop. I like peep sights on the lever actions and night sights on the EDC guns.

Yah got me... I just like guns.

I prefer blued steel and wood but have SS and wood as well. SA & DA revolvers as well as semi auto pistols. .22 cal rifles in lever, bolt, pump and semi auto including my un modified 10-22 I bought in 1972. All my center fire rifles are lever. Shot guns are mostly pump except for 1 semi auto I have not fired and a single shot 12 ga I have shot the bejabbers out of since the 70s.
I too like guns.

If it goes bang I like it. For decades I collected and shot WWI and WWII firearms so my tastes are a bit different. Currently I shoot 90% rimfire so not much military.

About once a year I visit my friend that is currently stationed in Alaska and we will shoot belt fed machine guns and full auto sub-machine guns.

There was a time many years ago that my opinion if it wasn’t a walnut stocked blue finished bolt rifle, pump shotgun or revolver it wasn’t for me. I have since evolved to owning many types and finishes of firearms but as I get older I’m kinda going back to my roots. I do have a semi auto 12 ga and a couple of AR’s and a few semi-auto pistols but most of my current firearms are walnut stocked blue finished like my Henrys. I do have two poly guns, a Ruger LCR which is my daily carry and a Ruger Mk IV. I prefer stainless revolvers just for the easier cleaning over beautiful rich blue.

I lean towards the Fudd side. I like my SxS shotguns, lever actions and revolvers. I don't mind the more modern style stuff, but prefer most things Fudd.
