Miss T suggests I add another full size gun safe, fire proof and decent quality. The local Tractor Supply sells Winchester, Cannon, and Liberty. I have heard negatives about all three.

1. I hear Liberty gave the FBI the master code to ALL their electronic locks. Everyone is mad at them now.
2. Cannon safes are made in Mexico and if the locks die, you have to wait, and wait, and wait to get the parts to get IN your safe.
3. Winchester safes have a lot of issues with the electronic locks.

NOTE: I don't intend to buy a safe with an electronic lock, I will look for and buy a safe with a dial combination lock. Don't trust the Electronics.

I want a good size safe for long guns, fire proof, and I'll look for 30+ capacity. My handguns are in the safe I have now. I don't need fancy colors, it won't be on display. Any input? I don't have to go cheap, but don't want to spend the cost of a used car either.

I have a Winchester 24 gun safe with the electronic keypad. I have never had a problem with it, going on 10 years now. I personally prefer the keypad because of how quickly I can get into it as opposed to dialing a combo. Can almost do it in the dark as well. Cannot do that with a dial. Just my opinion.

If the FBI is in my house with my combination I have bigger problems with them than knowing the numbers.

I have a "Morgan Fort" which I purchased many years ago with a regular dial.
It's pretty heavy duty and I have had no problems.

I had a Liberty and liked it.

I have Liberty’s, one with the Cabelas brand on it and one without. One with a regular dial and the Cabela’s branded with an electronic. I at first resisted the electronic keypad but have come to terms with it and now prefer it. All that being said if I were to get another (no need nor will there ever be) I would go Liberty again.

Mine is 'Big Horn' with electronic lock. I've had no issues with the lock so far.

My current Big safe is a Treadlock. I have had it for decades, but they are now out of business. I like the Liberty dial designs, I may look at a couple they have locally. Need to take some measurements for the spaces we'll put the new one.

I like my dial, can open it fairly quickly and this light works great when it's dark. Light is red and not very bright so doesn't affect your night vision.

I am old school and do not trust a keypad. May have something to do with my biometric gun safe that I can sometimes open but usually not.

I have a Biometric portable hand gun case. It also has a keypad. I can almost never get the case open Biometric. The keypad works every time.

I did a cursory look for gun safes with a mechanical combination lock. I didn't find any, but I didn't exhaustively search either. I did find conversion kits though.
So, maybe shop for a good safe with the keypad and at the same time make sure to find a compatible mechanical combo conversion kit.

My spouse doesn't open the safes, but the combinations are available to her if I am NOT available, You know, dead bug.... She has NO reason to get in the safe otherwise.

Marine, good choice I think. You are a good man for having Tina not need to get into the safe. Mary doesn't have the combo to mine as it sometimes holds candy. I open it and meter it out to her if needed. The combination is in a sealed envelope in a paperwork safe if anything happens to me.

I believe the safes go on sale at Tractor Supply on occasion. That might be the time to buy.

Zanotti Armor safes, use a rotary dial, are modular and will NOT give the COMBINATION to any one. Made in the USA.

The widow of my late friend who got me into guns, gave me a nice big Fort Knox safe and it holds all that I wan† with room to spare with ten heavy locking lugs around the door perimeter.I know that my friend did a lot of research on safes before he made his choice.He sold his automatic weapons for enough to buy he and his wife a new 4x4 pickup.

I trust her fine. She knows everything IN the safe. BUT, if I'm the only one that ever opens the door, I know it's locked. She gets distracted and forgets to lock things, close things... and she knows it.

* My daughter calls to chat (for two hours) while she does her chores around HER boarding barn. One of Miss Ts friends calls with a question about this project or that one... and she is pulled away from HER task. Distractions.

I watched this video years ago, and found it again. Good information. Too bad this guy is in Florida. It's almost a half hour long, but worth the watch.... Retired LE and nearly 20 years in the safe business when he made the video...

He's right, you aren't making a purchase, it's an investment.
I remember telling my students in the CCW classes...

"You pay $1,000 to $1,500 for your firearm, don't cheap out and buy a $20 holster. Buy a holster that will protect the firearm so it's there when you need it."

The Gun Safe not only holds the guns, but Jewelry, important papers, and gold and silver. An investment. Good information.
