After 28 radiation treatments for prostate cancer that ended January 15, I got my PSA results and it was 2.318. I even asked the Dr. if he was sure and he gave me the print out. So now the burning is almost gone and I got that good news. What a relief.

Been down this road back in 2012. After watching it for a year my Urologist said it was time to act. I chose the robotic surgery in Oct. 2013. Within a few months my PSA level was undetectable and still is as of my February general physical. Good luck and keep watching that PSA level drop.

Good for you. My BIL is choosing to have his removed instead of the radiation. Hopefully I'll never have to make that choice.

Thanks to all of you for your positive comments and good wishes. As far as the PSA, it doesn't get any better than that. Before I was diagnosed my PSA was four and a fraction. Then it went to over seven and the Dr. did a biopsy with four out of the seven coming out bad. After that a cat scan to make sure I wasn't full of the big C. That came out OK so they set me up for the radiation. The radiation itself was no big deal and I was fine until about the last five treatments and then the internal burning started and went on for about six weeks. I am talking about screaming ,tears in your eyes pain. But as the monkey said when he ate the peach pit "this too shall pass" and it finally did.

Was the "screaming, tears in your eyes pain" constant for the 6 weeks? I think I might rather just have it removed. I went through some serious pain for several months with my foot injury and wouldn't care to repeat that, especially since they've gotten so stingy with good pain meds.

Anyway, congratulations on being cancer free.

The pain was the worst when I had to empty my bladder and the very worst starting from about four PM until about ten or eleven at night. Drinking an excess of water helped a little . The very baddest of the bad was the feeling that †here was more and just a little and burning was all. The kid that used to live down the street had to have his out @ 50 years old because it was too far gone. He told me that it was a long time before he could get control of himself. As an aside , his mom was a single mother so he used to come over after school and I would help him and teach him some woodworking and about life etc. He lives across the state, became a minister and sends me a father's day card every year.
