Been enjoying (?) shingles into its third week now, and it’s the pits. I did get one shot, but not the series. It itches, it oozes, it scabs over, and it just saps my energy. Other than that, it’s great. It’s better now than when it started, so maybe there’s an end in sight, but it can’t come soon enough for me.

Better go get that series of 2 shots. My sister has had them a couple times and she got the 2 shots and hasnt had anymore issues. Be ready though the first of that series may make you feel like you fell off the bike again. Hope you feel better soon

Never had 'em, but my younger brother had them once,
said it was the worst thing he'd ever been through.

I had the Zostavax back when it came out and both Shingrix shots. No side affects other than a sore arm. Just seeing the pictures of a Shingles attack was more than enough to make me do whatever possible to keep from getting it.

If you are 100% positive you never had chicken pox than you don't need the shingles vaccine as shingles is caused by the chicken pox virus which remains dormant in your body. If you've not had chickenpox and also have never had the chicken pox vaccine they recommend you do get the 2 shot chicken pox vaccine which lasts for life.

Chicken pox was so widespread before the vaccinations for it became wide spread that if you were school age before 1995 it's very likely you had it.

60’s 70’s and beyond Gene

My brother got them in his late teens, a friend got them a couple years back, he was in his early 60's.

My wife had about 10 years ago. Painful.

I've been fortunate and not had them, but my wife did. No fun. Get well soon.

I had them around 60.

I had them when I was around 10 and they sucked. Back then they didn't know it came from chicken pox. Doc just said to eat more food high in protein and that they use to think it came from bad hygiene. Don't pick the scabs no matter how much they itch. Doc. told me not to and I did not listen so half my back is scared.

They suck. I got them in my mid 50’s.

They burn, itch and send out extreme bursts of pain.

They are like an active volcanic island eruption. What you see on your skin is just the tip of the pain. It goes all the way down to your nerves…

Takes months to get over the pain unfortunately.

Dr. Ordered a Antibody Titer Test to see if I had chicken pox or not. I believe I’ve never had chickenpox so she ordered the test. I’ll report findings when available.
