I generally run two sets of wheels—a summer wheel and tire set and a winter wheel and tire set. Having two sets of wheels while living in the middle of Va and smack dab in the middle of back roads makes drives during the fall through the spring a lot safer.

The car is a 2024 subaru WRX TR. We are lovers of manual transmissions and all-wheel-drive cars.

Here are the two choices of winter wheels my wife and I like. Which do you like?

Well.... I must be color blind as all I see is orange/gold I guess, but definitely no gray.

Agree with the above….gold. Both for color and style. I do like the gray wheels but not on the car in the photo.

I'd like the car better with black wheels, but that's just me.... I was a subaru fan. We owned FIVE until we switched to trucks. Mazda B2000, then Nissans. Trucks suited our needs better. We put 240,000 miles on the one forester and NEVER had a bit of trouble out of it. Traded it for the Nissan to handle the changing needs.

It was a crazy, busy weekend. I found a truck cap for my truck a couple of weeks ago. It's a fairly rare color and bed length, along with an older truck. I've been looking for four years.

Anywho, we worked a deal. We made plans to drive up on a Saturday.

700 miles in 15 hours. 350 up to PA and back. It started snowing at 11:00 am; we got the canopy and back out of the snow by 3pm.

Pouring, pissing freezing rain on the way back. We saw a half dozen accidents. But we are home.

Now, as to the WRX, we went gold. I went with all seasons over the original Michelin X-ice tire I had looked at. I won't be driving this in the snow.

These are the factory wheels and tires.

Lookn' good on both counts! I like the wheels on the WRX too.

Good looking truck and topper. Man those factory tires on the WRX sure are low profile. Bet than machine will corner!

Truck looks very nice with the matching shell. We put shells on both of ours. In some rare cases we find the shell is an issue when hauling tall cargo, but 90% of the time it's an asset. For security purposes, and protection against the weather.

When we need the extra headroom for cargo, we hook up the trailer.

welp, we have the car.... it's a fun drive. I have to stay out of the throttle and under 4k rpm until I hit 1,000 miles. I'll change the oil at 500 and 1k. We took the train up from central VA to BWI, and the dealership picked us up. Everything went smoothly. The dealer did a number of things for us prior to our arrival.

A look at the gauges about half way home... We ended up averaging 29.8 MPG when figured by gallons filled and miles driven


What kind of things did the dealer do for us? Well they installed the axle back exhaust, short shifter, new led foglights, lighted front bezel, center armrest, and other bits and bobs. They boxed the originals up for us.




Part of the reason we picked this up is that the truck has 250k on it. Original everything. We are retiring it from long haul drives. We opted to jump in the car before sun up and make a practice down here in VB.

It was amazing the sunrise was the same color as the car. Heading to VB in a VB. (VB is the wrx engine code for this gen WRX)

The wheel's and tires arrived. The car goes in tomorrow morning for state inspection, allseason install, and mudflap install. Why mudflaps? I live down a mile and half of dirt road that I alone maintain.
