A very moving ceremony. I lived and worked in the DC area for almost 20 before transferring back home to Minnesota in 83.
After the time in the military and then working our there I do love the pomp and ceremony that makes our nation powerful.

Incidentally, I just went out in -7 degree weather and put our flag back up at the end of our driveway.

It is a good day to be in America. Yet, I went south for a few days (Central America). Here, iguanas seem to make themselves home in the backyard:

The new Whitehouse web site is up and running. Not a lot of content yet, but a totally different look.

I was Regular Army and a Vietnam vet and I find these ceremonies very emotional.

When I came back to the states I went to a small post that was mostly secret, (or at least not known to the public), and there were only three VN
vets on the post. We were often tasked with leading ceremonies such a revile or retreat which meant raising the flag in the morning with a cannon and taking it down at tusk to taps. I also drilled the troops in marching and led them in PT along with the other two VN vets. This in addition to flying our test missions during the day. The post commander was a colonel who placed great value on his vets. I had both his aircraft and often we took him flying to different posts. We were on a first name basis. He called me "Chief" and I called him "sir". He was very good to me.

I loved it. I often took my little girl with me and she would sit quietly on bench and watch Daddy command the troops. She loved it too.

Please, let's be nice. We all may have different points of views. Yet, we can respect one another. We don't have to agree. But, we can be nice. That is what freedom of choice is about.

Thanks magas for dragging us all into the sewer. The clown car has arrived with the "rump" sleaze in charge .
You really need to stop getting your info and facts from reality shows and morning cartoons. It has started. The rump has just rescinded Bidens exec order to lower drug costs for seniors on medicare and medicaid. His aim is to privatize heealth insurance. Good luck paying for that Get smarter. Bye and good luck with your choices. You will need it.
From what little I understand about such, which isn't all that much, but here it is.
Drug costs aren't market based as long as the gubmint is paying.
So, until they are market based they will be high.
Privitization is necessary to make the prices market based.

The previous administration's change in Drug Plans just knocked out my old plan and I am now forced to pay hundreds more till next October when the enrollment period starts back up.
