.243 Nosler 85 grain Partition Cartridge?

Hello everyone,

I’m waiting for my Henry .243 single shot and am looking for a good deer cartridge. Shots most likely under 100 yds, most will be 35-75 yds. All the reviews I’ve read 95% or better like it. It’s expensive ammo but I check at the Nosler sight and it’s available for $33.95 plus shipping? That seems the lowest anywhere. Most places show 54.00 and up. Like some input if anyone cares to help.

Thanks
Guide

I always loaded my own but I used the Sierra 100 grain boat tail spire tipped.
The problem I had with the 243 was the bullet will shatter when it hits bone and spoil a lot of meat.
See if you can get lower velocities. I'm not sure what's on the open market.

No experience with the 85gr but 100gr partitions are all I use in my 240wby on our sambar in Aus. They are similar in size to elk and a mature stag can go 800lbs+.
Fantastic bullet I have taken over a dozen with them and only 2 have stayed on their feet long enough for a second shot, both of them were dead on their feet but hadnt yet realized it, 10-150y I have only managed to recover 2 projectiles, one was shot between the eyes at 10y and recovered it about 18" down the neck, the other broke both shoulders at 30y and was under the skin. Both had lost the core from the nose but were well expanded with the core behind the partition still intact at weight retention was around 60%.

Prices always make me jealous here in Aus, I stocked up about 5 years ago on the 100gr and they were $75/50 for just the projectile. Today they would be more than $2 each. Well worth it regardless of price as the performance has been flawless and also accurate. The worst group I saw during load development was 1.01 moa and the best around 0.3moa.

The bullets I have recovered alongside one waiting to be loaded

Went to fix a couple of spelling mistakes and copied the post so deleted the duplicate post.
