RIP Jimmy Carter…

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned his passing yet. Although I’d wager most here don’t have much in common with him politically, I’m sure most of us respect him as the great man he was. His work with Egypt and Israel at Camp David saved countless lives over the decades, not to mention the rest of his life’s work post presidency. 100 years old is good run.

I always respected his post presidency efforts. I think he set an example in those years that will be hard to equal.
I liked the fact he was from a small town and farmed. He went off to do big things and always came back.

Yes, a great man indeed. Too bad his presidency was such a mess but he served at a very troubling time.

All of which are 100% directly related to OPEC flexing their muscles. I’m not saying he was the greatest President ever, but all the things you list were not really in his control. I wouldn’t wish that job on anyone. But, much love for the beer!

I had the pleasure to meet him on the campaign trail. Spent about an hour with him . There was something about him I could not explain but I was sure he was a special being and I was right. If he was Catholic he would be nominated for Saint Hood. I am not religious at all but I am sure his God will be asking Jimmy for advice on things.

One of the recent news stories said whenever he flew he would walk down the aisle and shake hands with everyone on the plane.
