Correct me if I'm wrong...

But don't we all know this already?

I had to go see a specialist this morning. Kidney doc, just in case, as my primary care doc called it. One of my numbers has always been just a little high on the bloodwork each year, so "Just in case," he wanted the kidney guy to take a peek. I get to the office and I spot this sign as I'm heading in....


Now they had the regular, No Firearms, No weapons, inside the building... I'm used to that... but THAT sign? Must be a story behind it. Unless I'm mistaken, doesn't everyone know you can't beat up people and get away with it?

Apparently not. Seems there are some very air headed hot tempered people coming out now.

Against the law doesnt mean squat anymore. Look at what happened in LA after the Dodgers won the World Series. Look what goes on in some of these states with shop lifting. Its now ok to steal 1000.00 worth of goods.

I was thinking maybe TiKTok and YouTube don't have videos on not to hit others who are trying to help you. I'm not sure about this younger generation. It is nice to see that Oklahoma values it's medical professionals.

So is it okay to assault them if they are not engaged in official duties?

I looked up that statute, and assault convictions on any medical professional while performing their duties, from a doc on down to a nurse's aid or workers in the nursing home is a felony.

I would have loved to be there on the day that preceded the decision to post that sign. It must have one of those days when you could say "You won’t believe what happened at the doctors office today".

I remember when people dressed nicely for a flight, meals were served that you could recognize, flight attendants were attractive young women with wonderful personalities and everyone was civil.

I've never ridden a GreyHound bus, but I can imagine the last few flights I took would make the bus ride look slightly better. Most of the passengers looked as if they were headed for the local WalMart by the way they were "comfortably" dressed.

When I returned from Spain, I wore a sport coat. I didn't sleep, so the stewardess approached me and offered me coffee. She said it in Spanish first and I said I couldn't understand her. She was surprised, but the coffee was good. As I looked around the plane as we got off, I noted everyone else dressed as I was spoke Spanish. This was in the early 2000's. Apparently Europeans dressed for the flight still.

I wouldn't count on that. The last time I road a Greyhound bus, decades ago, it was a very scummy experience, sight and smell. I would find it hard to believe it's improved any. I haven't ridden a bus since then. But then I haven't been on an airplane since years before pre-covid, so I have no recent first hand experience with current air travel either. I'm also not too sure to trust news and social media accounts over what really transpires. Seems to me too many inconvenient truths get left out, with readers given a tainted view of what went down.

I quit flying when TSA started playing games. As a former Marine and Former LE Officer, I understood the need for Security Procedures, but when they started hiring bottom of the barrel and giving people power that likely failed the psychological testing... (Who am I kidding, they never took the testing.... ) ... and were abusing the power... time to quit flying.

Tina had to fly several times after that and related a number of stories of TSA abuse at the checkpoints as she boarded and/or changed planes. No direct flights from Richmond to OKC, had to change planes in DFW. Finally she too gave up flying, would rather deal with the drive than fly. We dressed comfortably but nicely, and always showered and washed our hair before the flights. The same can't be said for the other passengers. People would show up in pajama bottoms and T shirts. Male and female. Flip flops and nasty feet and you know they planned to put those feet on the seats in front of them.

I stopped flying after 9/11 except for floatplanes. Then two years ago I wanted to visit my friend stationed in Alaska. I couldn’t drive like when he was in Montana or Texas so I decided to fly. The first time I flew coach and it wasn’t my fellow passengers that bummed me out but rather the seats. The next time I flew first class and loved it.

Going through security was even easier first class and security was pleasant and respectful. The fact that I was dressed up helped I think.

I'm 71 and have never flown (other than once when I was a kid and went up in my Dad's friend's 4 seater) and have no desire or plans to fly, especially after hearing what you guys have to say about it.

I always tell people that "Flying ain't safe". Of course I spent 35 years in aviation so I say it tongue in cheek.
Of course it's safe. Considering all the statistics it's still the safest mode of travel.
I did a lot of flying over my career. Mostly as the guest of the captain in the cockpit and as such I got the
royal treatment. I also flew in the Army.
Now that I'm just a commoner like everyone else, and have to endure the security, it takes the fun out of
it and I'd rather take our Motorhome and see the country and take my time at it.

I loved flying, I flew a lot in the Corps. Of course we could hover.


I never could find a job when I got out of the Corps where they paid me to fly 200 mph and shoot 50 caliber machine guns out the window.
