Yep it has been a very busy week helping my brother finish his move into a new smaller home. Yesterday the Earth stood still so we could move his 1970 Hemicuda a 10,000 mile still original survivor he bought new in 1970. No rust any place on the car and interior still looking perfect as it was in 1970. We had removed the 426 Hemi engine back in 2004 to do a refresh but brother suffered some health issues and it has sat since then. Hopfully ,with a big 'H", we will get this beast up and running again soon with the help of a lot of friends.
We had a great group of guys help with the move and one 88 year old fellow who ran a speed/machine shop back in the 60's-80's who did the first tune on the Cuda when it was new. He was racing a 1965 Plymouth Hemi Super Stock car at that time and enjoyed coming over to see the Hemicuda again!
All went well and it is now in it's new garage.

Sweet... I have a soft spot in my heart for 60s and 70s muscle cars.

Don't make em like that no more.

Raced it at the local drag strip some but mostly had fun with it cruising the blvds. and burger joints and some street runs back in early 70's.

When I was 17, which was 76/77, and a new driver, a neighbor of my buddy was selling a 1970 Challenger. It had the 318 engine, but it had the slap shifter and a few other neat features. It was blue with a black vinyl roof, and black interior. He was asking $2500 firm, and I only had about two grand saved. My dad would not kick in towards that, probably because he didn't want that on his insurance as much as anything. I walked past it every day going to my buddy's house.
I still think of that car as one that got away.

When I returned from my all expenses paid vacation in Southeast Asia in 1968, I picked up a 68 GTO convertible from the local dealer. A week later, I got my first speeding ticket in that silver beauty. It wasn’t my last.

When the downturn in construction hit in the mid 70s, I got the old work van. It was a 63 Ford Econoline with no windows and in SAD shape, rust and beat up inside. I had been working for my Stepfather for several years at this point and had "Some" skills. The van got carpet on the floors and halfway up the walls. Paneled the walls above a chair rail and the headliner was HIGH dollar deep textured pecan paneling from the damaged bin at Lowes. I put a ledge at the back with Speakers in the front edge, and storage underneath for the spare, jack, and other necessary items. You only accessed the storage by opening the rear doors so the installation was clean and neat. I installed an 8-track, mounted in the front above the rear view mirror, so I had tunes. The mirror was now worthless because of the curtains behind the high back buckets from a Challenger. Not bad for a dirty old work van.

The VAN was really popular among our group, since the ledge was padded and was a Bed, of sorts.

Weekends, I drove a lot of friends cars while they drove my old van.
