Big Day That's Been A Long Time Coming

Post by JEBar » Sat Oct 12, 2024 10:35 am

Yep, big day indeed ....

first and most important, Maureen and I were married 50 years ago today .... looking back, its hard to believe that 50 years have passed so quickly .... our kids and grandkids are taking us out to eat tonight .... all we've been told is we've never been there before

second and what should really be termed as a much smaller day ;) , when I stepped on the scale this morning I weighed 70 lbs less than earlier this year when I decided to lose some weight ....

third, I awoke this morning from the first really good night's sleep since Tuesday, 9-24-24 when I had knee replacement surgery ....

Congrats Jim on the weight loss and the anniversary. I hope you have a great time tonight. I know what it takes for the weight loss part as Im down over 40lbs since coming home from Texas in April of this year

Well done, that’s a couple of milestones to be proud of. Plus getting a good nights sleep is always welcome.

our kids took us out to eat at a new steakhouse last night .... really enjoyed it .... that said, it will take a few days to shed the weight .... not complaining, simply a fact of life these days .. :?

Congratulations on that milestone. When Miss T and I got married after a very short courtship, we had a large number of people telling us it would never last. We have been married for 32 years and together more than 33. Nearly every one of those Naysayers are NOW divorced. Some of them more than once.

second and what should really be termed as a much smaller day ;) , when I stepped on the scale this morning I weighed 70 lbs less than earlier this year when I decided to lose some weight ....

Congratulations are in order for this milestone as well. I lost nearly 40 pounds with diet alone and I know how hard it is to lose it, and keep it off. With my physical challenges I can't get out and walk or exercise, so I had to work hard to drop the weight. So many people complain they "Can't" lose. They just don't want to do the work.

third, I awoke this morning from the first really good night's sleep since Tuesday, 9-24-24 when I had knee replacement surgery ....

I can sympathize on this one as well. I had a total replacement in '98, then a restoration of the same knee in 2012. (They changed the pads on the replacement.) Sleep is a luxury afterwards. A full night's sleep a blessing. So you hit a triple.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
