Prayers for those recovering from Hurricane Helene and those who may be affected by this potential hurricane.
Re: Hurricane Milton heading towards FL - new
Heard the governor say this morning that the folks are working very hard to get the debris from Helene (spelling?) cleaned up before Milton hits. What a horrible turn of events when the folks can’t hardly get cleaned up from one storm before another hits.

Re: Hurricane Milton heading towards FL - new
It's better Milton is a 5 out in the open gulf than ramp up before landfall. A 3 at landfall is not ideal either.
Re: Hurricane Milton heading towards FL - new
NOAA is expecting 10-15ft storm surge in the Tampa bay area. That's what everyone is afraid of. Might not be much left after that.

Milton this morning:

Milton threatens Florida with tornadoes and waterspouts
From CNN Meteorologist Allison Chinchar
Milton’s outer bands could start impacting Florida Peninsula and the Keys with embedded tornadoes and waterspouts as early as this evening as people try to flee the storm.
“Several places may experience tornado damage with a few spots of considerable damage, power loss, and communication failures,” the National Weather Service office in Miami warned.
There is a level 1 of 5 risk of severe thunderstorms, primarily for tornadoes, Tuesday for portions of central and southern Florida including Miami, Tampa, and Fort Myers. The severe thunderstorm threat increases to a level 2 of 5 on Wednesday as more outer bands impact the state. This includes Tampa, Orlando, Naples, Key West and Miami.

Re: Hurricane Milton heading towards FL - new
I was watching this one closely, as I still have some family/friends in the Daytona Beach area where I grew up. Fortunately, they didn't get hit that hard. Unfortunately, lots of folks on the gulf coast were not so lucky.

Have a niece in Bushnell. Downed trees in the area. The awning blowing away at their place was the only damage.
