Allen Bighorn sling

Post by Guide » Wed Oct 02, 2024 8:07 pm

Anyone know anything about this sling looks decent. Has large range of length, web with Rubber shoulder area. I was thinking of getting a couple. They list at 34.95 +or minus. Blackhawk armory has them at 9.95 so thought I might buy a couple might use it on my Henry when I get it, but could use it on my Ruger American .22 bolt action. Figured worst case scenario. If didn’t like it would donate it to our Rod and gun auction. Any one have one or used in?

Thanks

I have one, or similar. I do like it. The cushion for the shoulder is good, has a good grip. It also moves which allows me to carry the rifle muzzle up or down. That is convenient. I put it on my 357 carbine. Looks and fits very well.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Sorry, no opinion on that one. Do check out slings sold by BrassStacker. https://www.tgrenterprises.com/

I made my last two after seeing them on a forum somewhere. I had forgotten about them, though I had seen them in use years before when hunting Feral Goats in Hawaii. They are Thumbhole Slings... it allows your thumb to go thru the hole in the sling and the arm to hang loosely while still exerting direct control over the rifle on your shoulder. I made one for myself and one for the wife. Both turned out better than I had hoped. The build along threads are on here somewhere. ;)
This one is on the CZ455 .22 the wife uses on varmints:

This one is mounted on the Ruger American Ranch Rifle in 556 I bought for the bigger Varmints that were stealing chickens:

The pattern wasn't expensive and I just took my time in the carving... and tooling.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
