I think too much, everything I do I research it, buying hand tools, camera stuff, guns, vehicles and lots of other stuff. I look for looks of statistics, reviews. I look at price, quality. I’m generally very satisfied with what I choose. Even the drawing paper, colored pencils and other art supplies. Any way I was wondering if others do the same. I’m smart enough to get sucked into the stuff advertised on tv. OMG, for 19 dollars you can buy a spray the will make a toilet not cleaned in a hundred years sparkle like diamond.

Believe me Guide...you are not alone. I over research EVERYTHING to the point of confusion or down right indecision.

Not everything I do, just the things I take an interest in. As for stuff advertised on TV, never fell for those scams. Now I don't even have TV service anymore.

I'm a researcher too, and slant it to focus on what I want something to do for me, not all the other thangs that it can do if you need it to. I'm not a big TV person either, but I do use YouTube to see what others have experienced with certain products. You have to be a bit critical with some things though, and ask yourself if you'll use something the same way that the reviewer did to conduct his review. The same applies to print media as well.
The good thing is that we sure do have plenty of options for learning about a product now-a-days.

Yep, an other over analyzer here. This year it worked to my advantage. I was dithering over a new camera when it went on a good sale over Christmas. I almost bit. I looked and dithered until the sale was over. Then just before Mother's Day they put it on sale again at almost 1/3 off the list price. I couldn't resist at this point and bought it. I have been very happy with the purchase.

Usually, I end up with buyers remorse for a couple weeks after purchasing.

Myself I’ll do a reasonable amount of research before making a purchase but my wife…..boy of boy. She will research for days or weeks for the simplest of purchases. I believe she feels that making the purchase takes all the fun out of the research. When we go to the store she wanders around looking at everything and I go directly to what ever it is I need and get it. Then impatiently wait until she has her fill of shopping. I tell her she’s a shopper and I’m a buyer.

Tina is usually a researcher when it comes to problems and issues. If something isn't working she'll research it to death. She'll also research things she is really into, like quilting or embroidery machines... looking at NEW products coming out, reading forums and customer sites to see what failures have occurred before she decides if the new machines are any good. (Usually they aren't... they rush new machines on the market to compete and they are filled with flaws.) Her machines are now all older machines that have low hours because GRANDMA quit sewing and didn't use it much. Low hours, but several years old. Tina opens them up, cleans and oils them and they work great, and you know what? They have metal gears instead of plastic...

I might do a bit of research on a piece of equipment for the shop. Top 10 bench Sanders... Best drill presses for under $200, or read all the reviews for the dohicky I'm planning to buy and throw out the ones that look like they were scripted in a call center while phones were slow. (I was surprised to find out that's a profitable sideline... )

For some things, I just go and buy them as I need them and use them til they die.
