The Camaro was just an attempt to jump on the bandwagon created by the Mustang.

Of course, the Mustang was just a Falcon with an uncomfortably small back seat.

For contrast, my 4 cyl, naturally aspirated Camry has more horsepower than the standard 289 V8 in the 1965 Stang. And yet it gets in the mid 40s MPG on the highway, with A/C on.

FYI, my first car was a 1964 1/2 Mustang, so I have something of a soft spot for the old Mustangs. Still, I wouldn't want one for my daily driver. Between the hard starting, horrible brakes and steering, constant maintenance, they just can't compare to today's vehicles.

Dang, that picture of the electric Mustang with the bottle of V8 juice is priceless.

When I graduated from Marine Corps BootCamp, I drove a 64-1/2 mustang to NAS Memphis in Millington TN for Aviation Electronics School. It was a Six Cylinder. I drove that car for a couple years, then gave it to my mother and bought a 67-1/2 Firebird. Looked nice but was NOT a high performance version like the 68s. I loved the older cars for their looks and their lines, but they didn't get great mileage and they did need a lot of maintenance.

That red Camaro is sweet. I prefer the 70.5 with the split bumper, but still love that era.

I'll take the Blue Z-28 and the White Camaro, lol.

I liked them all back in the day with so many choices available the year 1969 was the best for all the muscle cars....something for every budget.
If you found a Chevy dealer "in the know" you could have a plain jane 1969 COPO 427 Camaro for 3295!
Loved the Pontiac GTO and Firebirds....the Mopars and I even had a Camaro Z/28 back in '74. Within a few months I added all the factory good parts that put it back to 1970 specs. Wish I could go back and do it again....nothing like the sound of a solid lifter rumpity cam and Sunoco 260!
