based on the recommendation of our family doctor we just scheduled a regular flu and fourth covid booster shots for next Wednesday .... I never look forward to getting a shot but what has to be, has to be

We've had both, just got the Covid booster last Sunday. No bad side effects from the booster for me, though Bill got a slight fever. No big deal, though.

Docs here recommend waiting until Nov for flu shots. Saying now is too soon for effectiveness to last whole flu season

Got my flu shot last week, the new Covid booster is not available here yet. Also getting the RSV vaccine and need a Tetanus booster too.

Moderna's newest vaccine is called Spikevax 12 + (Covid) 23-24 PFS. I got it last week when I also got the RSV ABRYSVO vaccine. Had both shots in the same arm; no side effects other than a slight soreness at the injection site the next day. It was gone in 24 hours.

I was grateful that my health insurance covered both injections. The retail price for the Covid shot is $155.99 and the RSV shot is $325.99.

I'll get the flu shot after Halloween.

No shots here for close to 10 years now. Wife is a T10 (that's injury level) spinal cord patient,been in a wheelchair for 40 years. Before granddaughter was born in 2013 wife's primary care doctor convinced her to get a mmr (mumps, measles and rubella)booster to protect her and the granddaughter. 2 to 3 weeks after shot she became exhausted and never got over the exhaustion, doctor did a blood test and it showed she had Epstein-Barre syndrome , 95 % of the population carry this syndrome but it is dormant. Well after that, no cure for Epstein-Barre, you just have to live with it we shy away from any additional shots, vaccine, booster or what ever. our understanding is the Covid shot won't keep you from getting it but if you do the case is usually less severe .... we each have some risk factors that could cause some significant issues if we were to catch it and not have had the shot

Never took any woo-flu shots........Never will........Haven't got sick yet.........Notice with woo-flu. NOBODY mentions flu or pneumonia anymore.

I had two Covid shots and then got Covid last Thanksgiving. Go figure. A mild case though.
Carol refused them and got Covid really really bad last Summer.
When I worked for the US Govt I was required to get the flu shot and every time I did I got the flu.
Since I retired 23 years ago I have not had the flu shot or the flu.
I got the pneumonia shot and then got pneumonia really bad. Doc said, "different strain".
I'm not giving advice. You have to do what you think best for you.

My transplant doc told me 3 shots was enough, that a 4th didn't add additional protection. However my PCP is pushing the 4th shot. When pressed he couldn't say either way if a 4th shot was helpful or not.

Flu shots are nearly impossible to get here. We will make appointments now for weeks or months from now.

On a similar note, looks like no one should be paying for Covid shots.

There’s No Out-of-Pocket Cost for Your Patients ... you must:

Administer the vaccine with no out-of-pocket cost to your patients for the vaccine or administration of the vaccine
Vaccinate everyone, including the uninsured, regardless of coverage or network status

You also can’t:

Balance bill for COVID-19 vaccinations
Charge your patients for an office visit or other fee if COVID-19 vaccination is the only medical service given
Require additional medical or other services during the visit as a condition for getting a COVID-19 vaccination.

We are living in crazy times. Each of us had v covid January 2022. Too many conflicting opinions on what to do. When the major news networks(conservative or liberal) both say take a shot it's good for you and they are all sponsored by big pharma that's a red flag for me.

I got the new shingles vaccine two doses and that's it for life. My sister had shingles that stuffs awful

Not to get political, it's everyone's personal choice whether to get the various vaccinations or not but I'm glad the vaccinations for the really deadly diseases like smallpox, polio, measles, etc. were pretty much mandatory and accepted by most back when. My dad had polio as a young man and although he adapted pretty well his right leg was paralyzed and he couldn't walk without a brace.

We were able to wipe out smallpox. Although it didn't spread as easily as a lot of other diseases (because by the time you became infectious you would be to sick to be up and about), if you got it you had a pretty good chance of dying.

There are five known classifications of smallpox. The ordinary form is the most common (~90 percent) with a 30 percent case fatality rate. The flat form accounts for about 5 percent of cases, and has a 97 percent case fatality rate. The hemorrhagic form accounts for less than 3 percent of cases but has a 100 percent fatality rate. The other classifications of smallpox are the modified form (occurring in less than 2 percent of cases and having less than a one percent fatality rate) and V. sine eruptione (occurring in less than 1 percent of cases with no known fatalities).
